SATURDAY September 18th

Nationally recognized artist and 2008 recipient of the Best of Show for Colorado Mountain Plein Air Event, Nora Bushong Larimer will offer a three hour plein air watercolor workshop, 9am - 12noon, during this year’s event on September 20. Nora will start with a demonstration on technique and design and then give individual suggestions to participants. All levels welcome. Location will be near Buena Vista. Morning workshop with Southwest Art Magazine Artist to Watch and owner of Virtuosity Gallery, Joshua Been. For those interested, meet at Virtuosity Gallery at 7am sharp and go to one of Joshua’s favorite places to paint. Directions to Rock Run and South Main: Go east (East Main) at the light on US 24 all the way through the old downtown to the end by the Community Center and turn right. You’ll see the new construction and Rock Run is on the right. There is a beautiful street scape of architecture with Mounts Columbia and Princeton as backdrops. It is also located right on the Arkansas River for other natural scenes.

PAINT-OUT AT MONARCH LODGE. Paint-out along Monarch Pass and around Monarch Mountain Lodge. Start as early as you like, must have painting in by 1pm.

Artists are encouraged but not obligated to paint at the Monarch Mountain Lodge area. On the way up Monarch Pass you will see beautiful creek vignettes, bridges and mountain vistas, historical cabins & mines.
Free cup of Coffee to all artists. Restaurant opens for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Enjoy the soup & salad lunch special @ $8.95 per person.
Sub-contest judged by Monarch Mountain Lodge at 1 pm. Participants must have their paintings to Monarch Mountain Lodge Taylor room by 1pm. Turn in any 3 paintings PAINTED DURING THE FESTIVAL between 9am to 10am, (no later than 10am) on Saturday Sept. 25 at Rock Run Gallery in order to be hung and ready for Judging & the "Artists Reception." 902 S Main Street, Buena Vista. 719-221-9398.
SHOW OPENING AND "ARTIST'S RECEPTION": The show of the work done during the festival dates will be on exhibit starting Saturday evening, Sept 25, at Rock Run Gallery
The show will only go through Sunday, September 26 at 2:00pm. When the artists leave, the paintings leave so come on down and see the show, buy a painting of your favorite place, and meet the artist that created it.
